You need this training if you plan to take your troop on any overnight- at a museum, someone's house, etc. It is also a pre-requirement for the out door overnight training. You can take this training now and get your outdoor within the next year so that you won't have to try to get them both scheduled in the spring before you want to go camping. The leaders do not have to be the troop camper. Any adult who is registered with background clearance can take the training(s) and be the troops certified person.
