GSEP Member Services
- Reminders from Member Services
Fall has begun, and it is one of the busiest times of the year for our Member Services team! As a reminder, this team is the front line for email and phone calls from volunteers, parents, and other members. They receive more than 200 calls and emails every day! Here are a few reminders to make sure your questions and those of your troop volunteers and parent are answered as quickly as possible:
1. When you send an email to Member Services, please be as descriptive as possible in the subject line so that your request can be categorized quickly or assigned to the right team. Instead of writing “help” or something general, please be specific. Some examples include:
- “troop transfer request” instead of replying to the new girl added to troop system email telling us where they should go
- Password reset should clarify MYGS or Program/Event registration – we often must reply to ask what they are trying to do, and it takes more time to resolve
- Include complete names when requesting information - i.e. I have a parent who is trying to register her daughter can you help her - doesn’t get us anywhere
2. Remember that SUMs should contact their VSS directly for any needs, not Member Services.
- New Troop Numbers: With the start of the new year, Troop numbers are in high demand. Please be patient as we work through the requests and please note, we are working on an improvement for this process. In order to receive a quicker turnaround, the following must be included-
- Subject Line: New Troop Number
- Age level, location and name(s) of the leader
Please refrain from making multiple requests for the same troop, this may result in duplicate efforts and assigning more than one number in error. If you follow up, include the original case number so we can reference.
- Reminder- Girls that need placement are sitting at the SU Level “troop”. Review your Looker reports to contact and place these girls. Send troop transfers (subject line) to memberservices@gsep.org
Freaky Friday (GSEP)
November 9th, 11:15-1PM – The Stimulus Children's Theatre group is performing Freaky Friday (See Flyer). Event will be in the Rose Recital Room in Fisher-Bennett Hall. To register for this FREE event: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ freaky-friday-the-musical-for- girl-scouts-tickets- 74768531691
Volunteer Opportunity (GSEP)
- Opportunity for Troops - (See Flyer) Please consider promoting this Nov. 10 volunteer opportunity at the 2019 Philly Walk to End Alzheimer's at Citizens Bank Park* to your Girl Scout & Brownie troops. (*free parking)
- We're looking for volunteers to be Walk Route Guides - cheering the 11,000 participants along the 3-mile Walk Route at Citizens Bank Park. I've attached the Philly Walk Volunteer Flyer with all the details for this fun dog & family friendly event.
- Anyone interested in volunteering at our Walk can email me (egriffin@alz.org) or call me at 215-399-9147.
Take the Lead (GSEP)
- Take the Lead is GSEP’s signature fundraising event honoring our community’s most distinguished women whose leadership and professional achievements make the world a better place. Girl Scouts can be a part of this exciting night in several ways!
Review open roles (for grades 2-12) and register using the links below! Spaces are limited and lead roles require an interview. We hope to see you soon and show off what GSEP girls do!

Team App
Team App is an app that the council uses to communicate information about the cookie sale and shops. I chose to use it since it is already being used there. My plan is to use it to be able to send out quick reminders (like, we have a SU meeting coming up) or for you to ask quick questions. There is a section for Leaders and Volunteers as well as JUST for cookies. You are welcome to sign up for both sections. You should be able to find the app in your app store and then search for North Penn Girl Scouts. Basically, it saves me from having to type 80 new contacts in my phone for the leaders, plus however many cookie managers there will be.
You do NOT have to sign up for this is you don't want it, but I had a lot of people ask me on the past surveys for text reminders about various things. I will not promise that all information will be available in all locations (email, website, FB group, and Team App), so it's up to you.
For the Leader group, I will only approve those who are on our leader roster. If you have leaders not on our roster, please let me know. I will also gladly approve leaders to be on the cookie section. I will give Sara access to accept troop cookie managers, as we start to identify those people.
Below is a link if you want access to the information but don't want the app on your phone.
If you have any questions, let me know :)

Fischer Park Trees
FISCHER PARK CHRISTMAS TREES – GIRL SCOUTS
Organized by Cadette Troop 71595
The details for tree decorating are as follows:
12 regular trees
1 large tree in amphitheater (we would like to put ornaments from all
participants on this tree)
-If you would like to participate, please Email Celestin Holmberg.
caholmberg@gmail.com by October 10th.
- Please include troop #, troop Level, and a contact Email
- I will confirm back to you that we’ve assigned you a tree and
things are good to go by October 20th.
- Decorating can be done on Sunday, December 1st-Wednesday, December
4th from dawn to dusk. Please use only handmade ornaments and decorations.
- When you arrive to decorate you may pick any tree that does not already
have something on it. (Some Leaders come and put their lights on earleir in the
day before their troop meets so that might be a claimed tree).
- Make sure all decorations are securely fastened to the trees. Use pipe
cleaners to attach the decoration to the tree to keep it from blowing off.
-We will put up a sign in front of each tree with your troop number and level.
These signs should be up on December 6th.
- The trees should all have lights installed by your troop, and lots of them. Please
string the lights so the male end of the plug is hanging at the bottom of your
tree. We will have extension cords run to the trees for you, once all trees are up.
If you need help with getting lights please let us know as soon as possible so we
can help you out.
- The amphitheater large tree will be decorated with decorations from all troops.
We will be in touch with how to get the ornaments from you.
- All decorations must be removed between January 2nd -4th 2020.

caholmberg@gmail.com by October 10th.
