Events in NPSU 565

Following the orders & recommendations of Gov. Wolfe for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as well as directives from GSEP, all events and activities in the North Penn Service Unit are suspended until March 31st.  After March 31, 2020, we will reevaluate the situation along with current guidelines and recommendations, and will issue any additional information at that time.

At this point, our scheduled April meeting will take place on April 2nd; please check emails for additional information.

We apologize for the massive inconvenience, both to your Troops and to you personally.  We understand the amount of work and time that goes into scheduling and planning events and programs, as well as registering to attend Service Unit and fellow Troop events.  Please reach out to organizations you have contracted with and seek refunds or reschedulings; if you need assistance or are having problems with this process, let us know and we can try to help.

Please keep in mind that meeting spaces may be under directives for different dates.  Check with your meeting location to confirm that they will host throughout the remainder of the spring.  Please be aware that ALL TRIP APPROVALS INCLUDING THOSE FOR ALTERNATIVE MEETING TIMES/LOCATIONS WILL NOT BE APPROVED THROUGH 3/31/20.

GSEP Events: Cancellation Notice

Dear GSEP Community,
In the past 24 hours, the World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 as a global pandemic, and it has become apparent that there is community transmission in the state of Pennsylvania. As Girl Scouts, we have an obligation to our community to do the right thing to limit the spread of the virus, even if we as individuals are not at risk of serious illness. In response to these changing circumstances, we are taking the following steps: 
  • All camps are closed through March 31, 2020. We will issue refunds to individuals and groups scheduled to attend programs and events through this date.
  • All council-sponsored girl and volunteer programs, trainings, and events are cancelled through March 31, 2020. We will issue refunds to individuals and groups scheduled to attend programs, trainings, and events through this date. 
  • Cookies on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 that were scheduled pick-up locations for Hometown Hero donation cookies at Shelly Ridge and Dorney Park are now CLOSED. For more information about how to order your Hometown Hero cookies online, please refer to your Cookie Manual for instruction. Also, our GSEP team will be on LiveChat from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can access this through our website on the For Cookie Sellers page. (Today's Hometown Hero pickup at Valley Forge from 4 - 6 p.m. will continue as planned)
  • No trips will be approved through March 31, 2020.
  • All council staff are being instructed to work from home through March 31, 2020, except for staff needed to preform essential council functions. These staff will be scheduled on a staggered basis to limit potential contact. 
  • Retail stores are closed through March 31, 2020. Please shop online for any merchandise you need in the next few weeks. 
  • Our member services is still operational! You may still contact us with questions or concerns during regular member service hours at memberservices@gsep.org or 215.564.2030
Thank you for doing your part to limit community transmission of COVID-19 in Pennsylvania. We will emerge stronger because of our collective action.

Heroes and Villains Gal Pal Dance

Service Unit 607 would like to invite their sister girl scouts from GSEP to the upcoming 'Heroes and Villains Gal Pal Dance" on March 21,2020 1:30pm to 5pm @ Westwood Fire Hall 1403 Valley Road Coatesville, Pa Girls bring their favorite “Pal” (adult male ONLY. Must be over 18 years old- dad, grandpa, uncle, step-father, mentor etc.). No tag-alongs or boyfriends please!

Dress to impress with your Pal or in your favorite Hero/Villain attire! This is for all GS levels. The event will include light refreshments, music, and DJ. There will be games and prizes for fun. Best costume will be awarded. Price includes a Heroes and Villains Fun Patch.

Registration & payment deadline is March 14th.

    Location: HELC Classroom of the North Penn Valley Boys & Girls Club, 16 Susquehanna Avenue, Lansdale.

    Time: Friday evening from 6pm-8pm

    Cost: $10 each girl and does not include the badge package.  ($13pp if outside of NPSU)

    Each class is capped at 30 Girl Scouts. RSVPs are considered final ONLY when you receive a confirmation email AFTER payment is received. No holds, no exceptions.

    Special Notes: All participants must be registered in advance and fill out a NPVBGC guest  application. Troops are responsible for providing ratio and (1)FACPR trained, registered adult(s).

                          February Meeting Canceled (and Highlights)

                          Due to several being unable to attend, a lack of information to share, and the busy-ness that is Cookie Season, the decision was made to cancel tonight's meeting.  Here are a few highlights until we meet again in March.

                          Monica would like to remind everyone that stale and/or expired cookies are NOT to be given to businesses as a thank you.  Please use fresh cookies.  :)

                          Dessie would like to remind everyone to log into MYGS and to verify that your girls are correct; then log into Smart Cookies and make sure they are correct there as well.  If your MYGS isn't right, your cookie data will not be correct, and this needs to be addressed ASAP.

                          Holly Pines is filling up and some age groups are waitlisted!  Contact HP for more information.

                          Adult Activities:  For the last few years, we have attempted Volunteer start of the year and end of the year activities, but they have been met with low turn out and, typically, have to be canceled.  While this is only moderately problematic at someone's home, when a restaurant has been reserved, it becomes an issue when we have to cancel.  That being said, several leaders have asked if we will do something like that again.  If you are interested in attending an event OR if you have a suggestion for an adult event, please let me know and we can discuss this at our next SU Team Meeting.

                          FACPR:  We do a Spring and Fall FACPR each year, and Spring is quickly approaching!  Please let me know who is interested in our annual April FACPR.  Once I get a solid date, I will pass that on.  The cost is usually $25 per adult and $20 for CSA Scouts who fill in the slots.

                          Thank you to our Brownie troops who have registered for the JIAD. We still have spots open and registration is going on now!  I will email once we cap or if we don't have enough people, but at this point, we are actively registering.  

                          Are you a Daisy troop?  Your registration opens next week for the JIAD!  

                          Junior troops who had registered but the JIAD was canceled for low attendance and those Junior leaders who reached out to me after:  I will be emailing you this weekend to set up an alternative to get your girls their programming. :) Thank you for your patience.
