North Plainfield Community Girl Scouts

Science Celebration (Brownies and Juniors) Older girls guide girls through experiments, helping them to find fun in everyday science. Activities lead to the earning of try-it/badge.

Food Drive (All Levels) Distributing flyers, collecting food, or sorting/packing food around North Plainfield in coordination with Boy Scouts.

Thanksgiving Baskets (All Levels) Providing nonperishable food for a family in the community. Families are identified by school nurses.

Holiday Bowling (All Levels) A fun afternoon/evening of bowling. This is a new event and is likely to have a "bring a gift for a designated charity" part to it.

Ice Skating (Brownies and up) Ice skating at the rink in Dunellen during their open skating time.

Brownie Bingo (Daisies and Brownies) Playing Bingo, sometimes singing songs.

Lock In (5^th-8^th Grade) An evening and overnight of games, activities, and food at a local church.

Valentine Dance (All Levels) Girls and male adults (dads, stepdads, uncles, older brothers) come for an evening of dancing and fun.

Craft Fair (All Levels) Girls spend part of their time helping at their troop’s craft table and part of their time going around to the other tables. Activities lead to the earning of a try-it/badge. Cadettes and Seniors help in the kitchen, bake table, or providing additional crafts. Open Registration (girls wanting to join GS) will be a part of this event this year.

Brownie Sleepover (Brownies) An evening and overnight (for those who want) of games, crafts, food, and fun at a local church.

Encampment (All Levels, Daisies only for the day) A weekend at Camp Hoover, north of Newton, our Council’s camp. Activities vary but may include: boating, ropes course, cooking skills, tie dying, candle making, hiking and games on the sports field

Memorial Service (All Levels) Attending the service at Vermeule Community Center.

North Plainfield Street Fair (Any Level can run) Working at the Girl Scout table at the street fair, helping to make Girl Scouting more visible to the community.

End of the Year Celebration (All Levels) In recent years this has been a pool party at the Green Brook Swim Club.

Fourth of July Parade (All Levels) Walking in the North Plainfield parade with other Girl Scouts.
