Girl Scouts participate in the First Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Vermeule Community Center

On Friday, December 12th, North Plainfield Girl Scouts celebrated the First Annual Tree Lighting at the Vermeule Center on Greenbrook Road.  Sponsored by the North Plainfield Parks and Recreation Department, community members came together to celebrate the start of the Holiday Season.  Participants sipped on hot chocolate, ate donuts, and sang Holiday Carols with the Scouts.
The Girl Scouts came together on Sunday, December 7th, to make special edible ornaments to adorn the bushes around the Vermeule Center, and help feed the wildlife throughout the winter.  The girls also brought their own special ornaments to decorate the tree.

On October 1, 2008, Washington Rock Council joined hands with Rolling Hills and Essex/Hudson Councils to become a new council, The Heart of New Jersey.  Although the main office is in Montclair, all three service centers remain open.  Check the new website, www.GSHNJ.org for information about hours and programs.
